Advocate

United Methodists are called to love their neighbors by seeking peace and justice for all. As a denomination and as individuals, we seek to discern how to faithfully do that in a broken, beloved world.

Third Tuesdays Social Justice Forum

This forum is a monthly series exploring social justice issues, meeting at 7 PM in the Conference Room on the third Tuesday of every month or via Zoom.

March 2023: The Immigrant & Refugee Ministry of UUFR

All are invited to our next Social Justice Forum on Tuesday, March 21, at 7 PM via Zoom. We welcome guest speaker Amy Blackwell, who will share talk about the evolution of the immigrant and refugee ministry at the United Unitarian Fellowship of Raleigh, including early efforts, events and current status – a five year story. She will use photos and stories to describe what has worked for them, what they have been able to do, and what are future possibilities. Click here to participate via Zoom.

Practice Advocacy
The relationships we form in our communities, often through our service and ministries, lead us to be advocates for justice. We cannot remain silent when we witness our neighbors impacted by broken social, economic, and political systems that result in poverty, conflict, and oppression.

The Micah 6:8 Team recommends the website of the UMC General Board of Church and Society to discover how United Methodists can advocate for current justice issues: Take Action • GBCS

Our world faces many problems and we can be overwhelmed by the needs we see. This resource can help you find a particular issue that you are passionate about and provide ways to faithfully assist in God’s work on it.
